Olympic Poppy Jasper Necklace | Washington
Olympic Poppy Jasper Necklace | Washington
Terra: Olympic Poppy Jasper from the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.
Storia: This unique black stone with red orbs or "poppies" comes from the Northwest coast of Washington State. It's not uncommon to find small pebbles of it on the beach. This stone looks to have quartz deposits in the the healed fractures on the surface (appearing as white streaks). The stone was cut by Geoffrey Hubbs of Brownsville, CA.
Necklace details: This unique cabochon is bezel set with fine silver (99%). The texture on the backplate of the cabochon is from an imprint of a fern collected on a hike on the peninsula, pressed and dried, and rolled into the metal with a rolling mill.
The pendant is 1.5" W by 1.6" L and the chain is 19" long with a 2" extender. Outside of the bezel, all metal is sterling silver (92.5%) and all components are handmade by me, except for the chain.
